Managing Your Boss
If you have a boss, she/he plays a critical role in your success. Don’t leave your success to chance. Be proactive and deliberate about managing your boss and leading up. Your ability to do this may determine job, career and financial growth.
While most of what we learn about, coach, train and teach is not overly complicated, it definitely does not mean that it is easy or will happen by itself. Consider these factors as they relate to your work and relationship with your boss:
- Compatible work styles – not sure what your work style is, request a free style assessment
- Mutual expectations – work outlines and/or planned discussions
- Information flow – inform based on style, share both + & -, no surprises
- Dependability & honesty – make/keep promises, don’t play down issues
- Good use of time and resources – don’t waste her/his time
