Stress & Styles: The High “S”
To better understand how stress impacts people and how they react to stress, look into behavior/communication styles. Regardless of your role, technology and a global workforce have increased the speed at which we work, live and play. It may help to reduce stress in many ways, but stress levels at work have increased for many.

What causes a “high S” influence style stress:
• “Rocking the boat”, sudden change, unstable environment
• Unfair/impersonal treatment
• Time pressures, not being able to finish things
How might they react (behave) under stress – indicators you can be more aware of include:
• Unconcerned, don’t care one way or the other
• Give in, overly agreeable
• Hesitant, uncertain, indecisive
• “Dig their heels in”, resist/derail change
• Withdraw, quiet, disengage
How to deal with the reactions:
• Slow things down and minimize tasks, allow chance to focus and finish
• Engage in planning the work/change
• Personal and sincere support
